Why you were sent here
Someone in your organization tried to connect their Outlook calendar to Hourari, and Microsoft 365 asked for an admin to approve the app first. Many organizations are set up this way.
Hourari shows what meetings cost, from who is invited and how long they run. It reads calendar events to price them. It never records, joins or listens to meetings.
What approving does
Approving gives Hourari permission to ask for access, not access itself. Each person still connects their own calendar by signing in with their own account. Until they do, Hourari cannot read anything of theirs. Nobody's calendar is connected for them.
To connect every calendar in your organization at once instead, see connecting a whole organization. That uses a separate app and is on the Business and Enterprise plans.
What Hourari asks Microsoft for
All three are delegated permissions: Hourari acts only as the person who signed in, and only on their own calendar.
| Permission | Read or write | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Calendars.ReadWrite | Read and write, own calendar only | Read events so they can be priced. Hourari writes only when the person acts in Hourari, such as declining a meeting or scheduling one from it. |
| User.Read | Read, own profile only | Show which Microsoft account is connected. |
| offline_access | Neither, on its own | Keep syncing in the background without asking the person to sign in again. |
Hourari does not ask for mail, files, contacts, other people's calendars, or any application (app-only) permission.
What Hourari stores
For each timed meeting: the title, a preview of the description (up to 500 characters), the start and end time, the organizer, and attendee email addresses with their RSVP status. Events marked private are kept as a time slot only, without the title or description.
After 12 months the title, description and attendee list are cleared, and only the date, length, number of attendees and cost are kept. Access tokens are kept in an encrypted store that only Hourari's backend can read. How your data is protected has the details.
How to approve
Sign in as a Global Administrator, Application Administrator or Cloud Application Administrator, then:
- Open Approve Hourari in Microsoft 365. It goes to Microsoft's own sign-in and approval screen.
- Check that the app is Hourari and the permissions are the ones listed above.
- Choose Accept. Microsoft brings you back to this page.
If your organization uses Microsoft's admin consent requests, you can approve the request the person sent instead, under Enterprise applications → Admin consent requests in the Microsoft Entra admin center.
After you approve
Tell the person who asked that it is done. They can connect again from Settings → Integrations → Outlook in Hourari, and this time Microsoft lets them through. Everyone else in your organization can connect too, without asking you again.
If approval did not work
Microsoft brings you back here when approval was cancelled or did not complete. The usual reasons:
- You cancelled, or signed in with an account that cannot approve apps. Try again with one of the admin roles above.
- A personal Microsoft account was used. Approval needs a work or school account in your organization.
- Your organization blocks this kind of approval. Some organizations allow only specific apps. Your security team can add Hourari to that list.
If it still fails, contact support with the time you tried, and we will look at it with you.
Removing Hourari later
To withdraw the approval for everyone, delete the Hourari app under Enterprise applications in the Microsoft Entra admin center. Each person can also disconnect their own calendar from Hourari at any time. Meetings already synced stay in Hourari, with their costs.
